Lock-UnMatic
Sometimes, files on the Mac cannot be deleted, moved or renamed. This can be caused by insufficient access rights, or because some processes are still using these files.
Unfortunately, the Mac OS X Finder doesn't tell the user which processes exactly are causing the lock. Also, these processes are often running hidden in the background - so they can't even be quit using the Dock.
Here, Lock-UnMatic comes into play. Simply drag and drop the affected files onto the application-icon (or into the application-window), and Lock-UnMatic shows you a nice overview of all blocking processes. It's also possible to kill these processes from within the application.
Lock-UnMatic is freeware and provided under the LGPL. The latest binary version can be downloaded in the Downloads-section, as well as the sourcecode. The application is multilingual (English and German).

Your software is excellent. It solved me a lot of problems. I have a mac but huge number of my files was created with windows. Without reasons, they are locked. In the past I should unlock them one by one. With your sw I can do it easily and very fast. Congratulations!!
Just one issue. Your sw is not enough promoted on web. Before I was able to find it I searched everywhere without finding a solutions to my problem. Now I have.
Thank you

This has been a very helpful tool for solving minor problems that Apple tends not to deal with (or give me the tools to deal with)-- it has helped unlock files "in use" by programs I don't even know that are running. I'm in video production and rendering, and these problems typically come up when I am trying to delete video renders for different projects that was a codec type or video type that my Mac didn't have the capacity to play back. The file ends up getting stuck in a loop or programs process that I am unaware of, until of course, I attempt to delete the file. Apple doesn't give me any solutions as to how stop the program accessing the file so I can delete it, but Lock-unMatic has. Lock-unMatic has helped keep my studio computer clean of render clutter that didn't work to begin with! Thanks for designing this very handy and helpful tool.

No negative comments that I can think of.
Does exactly what I want across mutli platforms.
I have access to various machines which I need to transfer & modify files on. This saves me loads of time in dealing with problem files over the network without having to be at the particular PC or Mac.
Thanks!!

Sehr geile App! Sehr toll!
Manuel

A very useful application that would deserve a better UI, leave Java and go for Objective-C ;).
